Contact Regulation Thermography scanning History
The association between temperature and disease is almost as old as medicine itself. The first recorded use of thermobiological diagnostics can be found in the writings of Hippocrates around 480 BC. After Galileo introduced the thermoscope, thermometry evolved slowly and became firmly established in medicine. John Hershel made the 1st thermal image in the early 1800's which he called a thermogram. Carl Wunderlich published temperature recordings from over 1 million readings and determined the range of normal temperature is from 36.3 to 37.5 degrees C and that temperatures outside of this range indicated disease. The first electronic thermal sensors were developed in the 1940's. In the 50's military research for night time infrared monitoring systems in troop movements ushered in a new era in thermal diagnostics. The first use of diagnostic imaging Thermography came in 1957 when R. Lawson discovered that the skin temperature over a cancer in the breast was higher than that of normal tissue. While infrared image thermography was developing in the 1950's, scientists in Germany were developing contact thermography and in 1980 Werner Eidam and Dr. Rost developed the Eidatherm which led to the new CRT 2000 thermographic system which now links over 35 years of historical data to the diagnostic process to determine disease in the body.
What is Contact Regulation Thermography?
Regulation Thermography is a way of quantifying the thermal response of internal organs to cooling stimuli. When there are disease processes in the human body, the body's organs respond differently to stress. A physiological response called the visceral cutaneous reflex allows us to measure these differences in the skin using a very accurate thermal sensor. The CRT 2000 measures how the body responds to stress and compares those measurements to a vast historical library of thermal characteristics and markers which are used to identify patterns of disease processes, even at early stages. Early detection allows healthcare practitioners to assist patients to improve their health before sickness occurs through things such as lifestyle changes, supplementing diet, regulating PH levels and lymph drainage and guiding patients to further specific testing etc.

CRT is an exact temperature measurement taken with a probe in contact with the the skin. The CRT output result is a computerized graph rather than a infra-red image. Thermal imaging displays the amount of infra red energy emitted, transmitted and reflected in the body. Although still a useful tool, due to this it is quite difficult to get an accurate temperature using this method while contact thermography gives a very detailed and reproducible measurement of 119 points on the body. Thermal imaging is a static image of infrared radiation and as such is not a functional diagnostic that assesses with complete clarity the regulatory capacity of the body.

The Measurement Process
The approx. 45 minute procedure begins with 119 measurements of predefined points on the head and torso (a gentle touch of the temperature probe against the skin) During this first segment you will disrobe from the neck down to your underwear. At the conclusion of the first set of measurements, you then wait 10 minutes while the cooling stimulus applies stress to your organs. It does not feel like stress since the temperature is not cold, only about 68 degrees Fahrenheit. After this cooling, a second reading of the same 119 points is taken. The results are expressed in a detailed print out which reveals the reactions of the body and the functional health of your various organs and their neurological control systems
- Wear long sleeved and long legged clothing

- Do not have any regulative therapy approx. 1 week prior to exam - this includes acupuncture, neural therapy, bioenergetics or electro-neural diagnostics or therapy
